Beta-adrenergic-dependent CFTR expression

Beta-adrenergic receptor modulates expression of the Cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator ( CFTR ) [1] via elevation of Adenosine 3',5'-cyclic phosphate -( cAMP ) mediated by GNAS complex locus ( G - protein alpha-s )/ Adenylate cyclase/ cAMP. High cAMP concentration leads to activation of the PKA and, subsequently, of cAMP responsive element binding protein 1 ( CREB1 ) and transcription factor 1 ( ATF-1 )-dependent transcription of CFTR. cAMP-dependent activation of CFTR transcription is still being studied and appears to be more complex than believed previously [2], [3], [1].
